Last week, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, together with its agencies, presented their 2026 budgets before the Kaduna State House of Assembly Committee on Environment. The engagement provided a platform to highlight the Ministry’s strategic focus for the coming fiscal year, aimed at strengthening environmental governance, enhancing service delivery, and advancing sustainable development across Kaduna State.

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abubakar Buba, led the delegation, accompanied by the leadership of the Kaduna State Environmental Protection Authority (KEPA), the Kaduna State Mining Development Company (KMDC), and other senior departmental heads. Their submissions outlined priority initiatives for 2026, including improved waste management reform, pollution control programmes, enhanced environmental monitoring systems, tree planting and comprehensive climate resilience measures to better protect communities. Inline with the Sustain agenda of His Excellency Senator Uba Sani CON.

Members of the House Committee acknowledged the Ministry’s well structured plans and will receive thorough consideration to support the ongoing efforts of building a cleaner, safer, and environmentally responsible Kaduna State.
